Monday: I collected Patrick Henry Rhetorical Analysis Essays. Then, we discussed what we know of the Middle East in preparation for our new book, Persepolis. We also brushed up on current events. See this powerpoint for today.
Tuesday: Watched and discussed John Green's Crashcourse on the Iranian Revolution in preparation for beginning Persepolis Wednesday: Field trip to Martinsburg High School to hear Wily Cash! We also worked on this Western/Middle Eastern Current Events activity. Thursday: Watched the BBC documentary Iran and the West (part 1). Complete these questions. Friday: Passed out Persepolis. We read and discussed the first chapter in class.

Tuesday: We used Abigail Adams letter to her son (2014 rhet. analysis prompt) as practice for how to approach a rhet analysis prompt. We also began to look at sample essays Wednesday: We finished looking at sample essays Thursday: First Essay of the year!! Patrick Henry Rhetorical Analysis. Friday: Peer reviews/revisions of essay. Type and revise to tun in to me (in its best form) on Monday Monday: Declaration of Independence- Group Work. Look closely at assigned section of Declaration and work together to analyze SOAPStone and a list of significant words. Questions are here. Tuesday: Sub- I'll be out for a teacher training. Using notes on classical oration, work on your own or with your groups to identify the elements of classical oration in the Declaration. Then, read this article and complete an article analysis sheet. Complete analysis by Thursday. Wednesday: Power Words of the Declaration Activity, Intro to rhetoric of revolution (powerpoint). Make sure to finish reading "The Revolution will not be Tweeted" (Linked yesterday) for tomorrow. Thursday: Discussion of "The Revolution Will not be Tweeted". Begin reading Patrick Henry "Give me Liberty". Annotate for tomorrow. Friday: SOAPS and discussion of rhetoric of "Give Me Liberty". We are preparing for our first essay.
