I believe that all humans are naturally good because when we are born we have no sense of what good and bad are, I mean from genetics we can be given our parents ways. Like if our parents drink a lot during pregnancy we may grow up to be alcoholics but with that all being said we still have no idea what the difference between good and bad are. But just because we don't know what good is doesn't mean we aren't naturally good because when Adam and Eve sinned they stained humans with an original sin that we would be later born with but God gave up his one son to save us from that making us born good or as some say a clean slate. so whether you believe in him or not he saved human kind from original sin.

i agree with you. when we are born, we don't know what is right or wrong, so we can't be naturally good or bad.

I agree, we don't know right or wrong when we are first born so we have to rely on our parents. Unfortunately not everyone's parents teach them the correct ways, and that is why we have serial killers and other non good things in this world.

nature and nurture influences our behavior. when you're a baby and don't know any better, you basically run on instincts, which is nature. when you get older, you're taught by your family what's right and wrong, which is nurture. society impacts individual behavior because if a group of people are doing something, even if it's wrong, you feel the need to also do it. people don't want to stand out in a group of people, so they'll do anything they need to in order to fit in, even if it's the wrong thing.

I agree, because babies have not been taught how to behave by society, they act solely on their own instinct.

I think humans are born naturally good. As a baby you have not been introduced to the bad things in life. However, the older you get, the more society influences your decisions and views on situations. Nature influences you, your environment, the people you are around, etc. I have noticed that when I am around people with negative aspects on life, I get a negative and not so happy attitude with everything and everyone. As a child though, i remember always being happy and doing nice things, i mean i still do but not as much, because i was not yet exposed to the negativity in the real world.

I agree with this because as a baby, we really are oblivious to everything and have no clue the rights and wrongs of the world. As we grow older, we start to recognize what is good and bad and hopefully shape into good humans of our society.

I believe that humans are born not evil or good. I think our parents help define how become as we mature. If our parents treated us poorly as babies and we were around abuse, then that baby would have a higher chance of being bad. A good childhood for a child leads to a baby becoming good as it grows up. Parents that teach their kids manners and respect often have good children. Also I believe that nature is what comes from nature itself, like the environment, and the people around it. While nurture is what your parents teach you as you grow up.

Nurture is not just what your parents have taught you, but what your environment has taught you. Think about it, what have you learned from your parents that you use everyday? While you probably think that you do use a lot, what have you learned from your friends? Your teachers? Your favorite hip-hop artist? Nurture is everywhere and there is no denying that.

I agree with this because yes our parents help shape us and teach us what right and wrong are but our environment sometimes takes a greater tole on us.

I think humans, in general, are born to be good. We, as humans, are born innocent and not knowing any better. However, as we get older we are taught to be better individuals by our parents or guardians. Even though people may falter at times, a persons character should not be determined by a single mistake, but rather how they act the rest of the time. On the other hand, if the mistakes are recurring then it might be warranted to judge a persons character on their mistakes.

I agree with Georgia's statement: "you can be anything want if you put your mind to it". Events in your lifetime will influence your personality, but you decide how to handle the events, and ultimately you decide who you become.

Humans are born naturally good. The instinct to survive is much greater than acting selfish. Our behavior is both influenced by nature and nurture. The activity done in class demonstrated that we were selfish, but learned through our surroundings throughout life, my group conducted trade negotiations with another group. The animal instinct almost destroyed many groups. It was survival of the fittest, after all. I believe my group, however, won by negotiating that trade. It was nurture that won the game for us, and it was the combination of nature and nurture that influenced the class. I believe that if this activity was done within an elementary atmosphere then there wouldn't have been so much violence. Everyone acted the way they did today because of what they've learned through works of art. In movies, there is often a standalone protagonist fighting for his life, and in music violence is often mentioned to overcome a certain obstacle. The amazing ability to think complexly is what differentiates us from complete animals. Without our complex organ in our head, we wouldn't have been able to conduct that trade negotiation, or even have known when to stop.

Logan I agree with you. Humans have a very powerful instinct to survive. And sometimes that instinct can over power what they believe to be the right thing to do. So I think people who are usually do good things can do bad things when they are put in a situation that forces them to.

I believe that we are not naturally good or evil. I think that throughout our lives we are impacted by different events which shape us into the people we are. People have the choice to become good or bad. It is up to them, the actions they want to take which defines them. During the class activity we participated in, many people resorted to violence toward others. When they realized that others had what they needed they chose to turn to violence, rather than reasoning. This helps to prove the point of nurture. People are constantly influenced in their daily lives with violent images and actions. Many people are affected by these things. This explains why people turned to violence; it's what they are taught. Only a few people could figure out a way to trade and barter for what they needed rather than fighting for it. The same concept applies in real life. Most people do not have the mentality to look for a peaceful situation, some do. I think it is because of nurture that this happens.

In my opinion, humans are born neither good or evil. Society teaches them how to behave as they grow up. How your parents, your friends, and your community have raised you altogether decides can play a part in deciding good in evil. However, ultimately it is experiences that decide who you are as a person. During the activity in class, I saw that some people resorted to violence to get what they wanted. This would have shown humans to be impulsive and selfish. However, in my opinion, this only showed competitive play. It was only an activity, a game, and humans (especially teenagers) are known to be very competitive.

I do agree with you for the most part, however your initial statement I don't agree with. Yes, society does educate humans on right and wrong, etc... but the human mind is too complex to be born a clean slate. Whether it be the chemicals that regulate our brain activity or just plain instinct, there has to be some explanation down the road as to if we are born for the good of man or the destruction of our very existence.

Humans are destructive species on earth. We've seen man having no humanity nor innocence. Though growing up in a rather harsh enviroment or having a disorganized family doesn't give man to kill or destort ,but rather over come the past. Our species as been traced back centuries and older showing that we were destructive and primative beings. Still, in genetics we carry that D.N.A. and pass it on from generations. Today, society in general is messed up with the views and conspecions of defying what is good or bad from social media and hollywood. For example, some people think stealing food is the right thing to do to feed a poor family or stealing money to help someone under debt. It's confusing and a struggle trying to figure out if it's something good or bad. Man has governments and societies to seperate us from animals.

I agree. Humans are the most destructive, arrogant, and insolent creatures that live on the planet. Overtime their morals changed and evolved. However, in my opinion, they are, and will always be ignorant idiots.

From my point of view we are not born good or evil however we are born knowing somewhat what we like or do not like. So we do what makes us happy. But how we do as we grow is massively determined by our environment as a child and as an adult. For example if a child grows up in Kansas opposed to New York. Those children will grow to be very different. An example would be me and my cousin she grew up in a very small town where everyone knows everything about every one and it is very informal. Where as in Martinsburg while still a smaller town with less people I really do not know a whole lot of people outside of school.
