This is the Pd 6 Blog. Please make sure you are posting in the CORRECT blog for discussion.
One thing you will learn in AP Language… EVERYTHING IS AN ARGUMENT. Every piece that we see in the media, whether written or visual, has a message that is trying to convey. Some convey their message better than others. Now that you have a burgeoning knowledge of rhetorical analysis, you can start analyzing the world around you using these tools. You will exercise your rhetorical analysis skills by finding a “cultural artifact” and analyzing the argument presented in that piece. You must choose a visual piece of some sort. This may include, a photo, advertisement (commercial or in print), music, or a video clip. Write a SHORT analysis of the piece describing the items described below. Your analysis should be specific and be a minimum of 200 words. POST your analysis on the class website discussion board by Friday 9/2. Make sure to include the link to the YouTube video or to the picture that you are analyzing. Your analysis should address the following:
After posting your analysis and artifact, respond to AT LEAST 2 of the posts made by your peers. Make sure to be RESPECTFUL and ADD TO THE DISCUSSION. Welcome back! Welcome to AP Lang! To those of you I've had in class before, I'm excited to continue learning with you. To those of you who are new to room 6, I can't wait to get to know you!
On occasion, parts of our class will involve online discussion. Class expectations for online discussion are very similar to expectations in class. Discussion should be meaningful, and it should ALWAYS be polite. Posts should be at least a 5-6 sentence paragraph unless otherwise noted. For our first discussion, please tell us about your summer. In your post, make sure to do the following:
After posting your answers in the comments, make sure to comment on at least two posts from your peers. Happy blogging! |
