My Quote is" Kill the beast, cut his throat, kill the beast, spill his blood"! This passage to my opinion is them officially becoming savages. They have been away from civilization so long the forget to stay sane. When jack takes over that's when things take a turn the wrong direction.

With this, my opinion could go in two directions. Jack may be a good leader and decide to take things in a new turn. Also, it could hurt the group as they have never ventured out to this savage stage.

I agree with you. In this quote I feel like the boys are becoming savages and will possibly kill anything that stands in their way of surviving

I agreed completely. This shows how much they have changed and how they are more concerned about violence and survival than civilization.

I agree, with this head they want to somehow become friends with the beast. It could also have been way to lure it out to kill the beast.

I agree yet disagree. I feel that they are in some way mocking the beast. They are trying to get it angry. Jack believes that he has the power to kill the best. He believes he is the strongest, so in my opinion, I feel that possibly he is trying to lure it out by mocking it.

This is my favorite part in the whole book. I believe the meaning of the entire book is shown here. The author, from the beginning, was telling us that slowly, humanity itself destroys oneself. The boys all turned savaged whether they recognized it or not. They turned evil at one point or another, but it was themselves that brought them to that point. The way they selfishly acted and the things they did came from within them. The beast is not an actual figure you can kill, but rather something that lives inside you and can kill you,

I agree. There is a small amount of evil in everyone. It's just so happened that Simon can now sense his and created a character out of the evil inside him.

Yes I do agree with you on that. He does have good points on matters of food but has trouble with keeping order. Also the way he imposes his views and tries to enforce them is his biggest downfall. He comes off as a tyrant because he rules with fear and strength. In history rulers who have used this type of force do not rule for that long because the people under that rule will lash out.

I agree . Jack is becoming more and more selfish and ignorant to the world around him everyday . His humanity is being overshadowed by pure madness because of his need to survive .

I totally agree with you jack is going crazy with power and he is being selfish. The conch shell was meant to be used as something else not the way jack is using it

Jack says this to make Ralph look bad. All the other kids look down on Piggy because they think he's a weirdo. Therefore, making Ralph seem like Piggy, he's making the other kids look down on Ralph.

Well most of his "logic" he pushes onto people and they don't want to comply. Some will comply out of fear and lack of confidence in a new world. In my opinion Jack is not the right leader for them in this new world. Jack will be the beginning of the fall of everything they have.

"'Fancy thinking the beast was something you could hunt and kill!' said the head. For a moment or two the forest and all the other dimly appreciated places echoed with the parody of laughter."
