I agree, it also gives me a sense of no hope to them leaving unharmed.

This shows that there is no unity within the island, everyone is out for their own survival. No longer is a democracy.

This shows what survival can do to you. Instead of them wanting a civil and organized island, they've turned to killing and non human strategies.

I don't think what the boys are doing is evil. I think their animal instinct is kicking in. They are just trying to survive.

It is the biggest challenge he will face in the story. He comes to the choice of trying to bring back the structure or letting it fall apart in front of him. Neither of these choices would be easy to make though he has to make one. It comes down to be on your own or bring back structure.

I agree . Ralph has realized that any sense of order they might have had before , is now starting to slip away. The boys are more interested in surviving for the moment than surviving long term.

I believe that's signaling that Ralph is giving up. He's had lost hope to have everyone be civilized.

I agree, through this segment in the novel the disregard for structure is amazing. Though how could anyone have structure in a world where there are no completely respected figures. That is what the adults represented in their lives and now they do not have that.

I think the boys will turn out to be a little more animalistic by the end of the novel. Certain individuals show characteristics of like behavior now.

I agree. Piggy starts to become somewhat of a leader in my mind. Also, with Jack conflicting with his actions, some will disagree

I definitely agree with you, but also with Ryan. The world they knew is no longer, and without anyone there to reprimand them for their bad behavior and decisions, they are beginning to lose sight of their civilized ways from their past. In the back of their minds they know what they are doing is wrong, but they no longer have anyone to guide them on the right path. After all, they are still children who were once learning the right path to take.

I agree. It also seems like he's getting frustrated with everyone he's surrounded by. He wants change.

I could see the boys changing a lot over time and adapting to their environment with no adults being present. They could go down the wrong road without any guardian guidance.

My quote is "kill the pig! Cut his throat! Kill the pig! Bash him in! pg. 104 I think this shows that they might be realizing that they are their own parents because they're taking care of them selves and providing food for others.

I disagree. Here, I doubt they're thinking about being their own parents. The boys are becoming savage and out for blood. They're becoming like animals that are all about surviving, not living.

I agree with Ashton. Their parents are the last thing on their minds. Now, only the thoughts of the need for survival and where their next meal is coming from clouds their minds.

I agree that the boys are changing into animal. Jack is turning the fastest because I don't think he got his way in wanting to lead

"Who's that sitting there?" "Me. Simon." "Fat lot we are," said Ralph."Three blind mice. I'll give up." "If you give up, said Piggy, in an appalled whisper, What 'ud happen to me?"
