I had never really heard much about Malala other than the fact that she had been shot for standing up for equality in the Middle East. Nobody ever told me she was a teenager or that she would do it again in a heartbeat. What really surprised me was that she not only forgave them for hurting her, but the fact that she is prepared to return and continue her fight despite facing numerous death threats friend m the Taliban. Her mother was uneducated and disagreed with her daughters' views. She would constantly tell her daughter don't look man in the eye as it is a shame. Her father, on the other hand, was an outspoken individual fighting for the rights of everyone. Her bravery is both inspiring and surprising considering everything she has been through. She overcame everything which is why I am so surprised to hear how young she was and all the impact that she made with her small, yet powerful voice.

I thought it was amazing that she forgave them as well and that she would be willing to return home even considering the danger.

I think this was an interesting video. Very inspiring. I wonder how much change has come about because of her protesting?

There are many argument ls shown in the documentary. One argument is that girls should get an education and the other argument is that people should be able to speak out to say what they think is right. The purpose of this documentary is to show what events led up to her being a powerful figure for peace. It also showed how these events have affected her life today and how she is and how her family feels about everything that has happened in her life. The only bias in this video is that it only shows Malala and her family's point of view but that is expected because it is a documentary about her and her story.

Many people thought of Malala as a bit conceited. I thought it was interesting that she decided to accept her nobel peace prize. She made a good decision to do that because she obtained a large platform to speak at. She knew that people were paying attention to her so she used that to her advantage. Malala spoke of issues and shed some light on them to let the world know. Malala knows how to use her resources in order to help her cause. Many women are threatened and are terrified to go to school. In the United States, we have many freedoms that most of take for granted. I can leave my house and not have to worry about my life and safety. The documentary is about Malala and her family so the bias is going to be towards her. Before we watched the documentary, I thought of Malala as almost a superhero. In reality, she is just a regular girl like me.

I liked how they showed her as more than a speaker but as a regular girl too.

Malalas story gave very good insight to both family life and the views of middle eastern radical groups and how they influence people. Education for girls is viewed as unnessecary and deemed wrong by radicals. Malalas father is very supportive and has passed down values and has shown Malalas the eays of speech which must have influenced her to become the speaker she is today, other than the fsct that she was injured. It seems as if Malala is trying to inspire an "education revolution". She states that the youth are the future and by educating the youth that could change how the current state is in the middle east. By creating smart young men and women it could prevent future disaster, or at least, reduce it.

I loved the documentary and thought it was very inspiring and well done. I think I found the reaction of the class and others in the videos opinion the most interesting. Many said she was an attention seeker, but I disagree I believe she is an inspiration and that if I had a voice that meant enough to bother the Tailban I would ask for a microphone, too. It helped me look at the Middle East in a more hopeful view because seeing someone so young stand against something so powerful is inspiring.

I agree that Malala was not an attention seeker and instead a great inspiration. It is very wise of her to use her story as a life lesson for others.

I found that the documentary was very inspiring. It tells of the struggle that many people face in other countries. What I didn't like about the documentary was that the story forcused more on Malala's life. It focused on how she was treated in her life. I think I would have liked the documentary more if it focused on what she was fighting and speaking out for. Malala is fighting for the education of children because she believes that education makes everyone want to be different and stand out. She wants to make a difference in the world and she wants everyone to make a difference in their own way.

I agree that the documentary didn't cover much of what she stood up for as much as it did her life and how her life has been affected. Her fame is inspiring, but it can be considered a negative aspect for the sake of what she stands up for, but that isn't the main point of the documentary. The main point is saying that people should stand up against injustice. Though if advertising her cause was the main point, then the documentary lacks a very important aspect: modesty. Even though they show she is overall a normal girl who still has to do homework, she also won the Nobel Peace prize and met world leaders. However, showing her cause wasn't the main point of the documentary.

I agree with her cause not being the main focus of the documentary, but that is because it is not about her cause. The documentary is titled "He named me Malala", it is a documentary based on her life. It seems wrong to say that it lacked modesty and didn't mention her cause when it wasn't about that in the first place. They gave us the other information purely to provide context about her and what led to this event that changed her life. So I do agree that tgey didn't focus on much else besides her, but that wasn't really what they were trying to go for anyway, at least in my opinion.

The story of Malala and the act of heroism that she had portrayed wasn't shown very well through the media. It made better sense after watching the documentary because she explained all aspects of her true message. It extended past her belief but more so towards education and the importance that women needed to be apart of the classrooms just as much as men do. In my opinion, her mother's lack of schooling could have given her the push to stand up and speak out even though there was threats involved. Malala going to the school houses of different countries was very encouraging because she is still finding ways to speak out. The documentary changed my view of Malala, it showed she is a very intellectual female and not a child that was overly mentioned in the media just because of her countries chaos.

I found about three different arguments presented in the documentary. The first, main argument is that injustice in the world should be spoken against, and that no matter who you are or how old you are, you can make a real difference by speaking out and standing up against that evil. The argument Malala makes in her own life, or the injustice she stands against, is girls in the Middle East not receiving the same education, if at all, as boys. The reason she was shot was because she stood up to the power that demanded girls not go to school. A sort of implied argument is that famous people aren't very complex people in many cases. The documentary demonstrates this by showing much of Malala's daily life. The overall purpose of this is to convince people that they can and should act against evil, and be brave in the face of danger. The only bias I have found I'd that only her and her father are spoken of in regards to their speeches. They could have mentioned others who have done speeches or brave actions as well to expand its message and show that many people can do it.

I found that Malalas story of her life in the Middle East was very moving. Just how one group of rebels took over the country and the country's government can't even do anything about it. Even though that was a horrible reality Malala still fought through and became a fighter against the taliban. This powerful group targeted her and attempted to kill her and by miracle she is still alive today. She still is sharing her story and is becoming a successful woman. This showed me to stand up even though people are scared if you want to see change you have to be the change. My views on the Middle East have changed because I never really knew how bad it was over there. It opened my eyes to what people are suffering through right now.

I think that Malala's determination to change lives is encouraging because she was not stopped when the Taliban tried kill her. She used the situation as an outlet to reach out to other teenagers her age and prove to them that they are worth something and can achieve any goal they put their minds to . Seeing her constant happiness, and positive outlook on life inspired me to push through the hardest challenges of my life and keep going. This documentary showed me that teenagers like Malala live similar lives to mine. Before learning more about the Middle East, I assumed that everyone in that area of the world suffer and are constantly running from the terrorists. Malala proved that she is just like every other teenager with equal opportunities to the ones we are given everyday.

I agree with most of your points except for one. The documentary showed Malala meeting world leaders and even winning the Nobel Peace prize. In these ways her life is different from many others. I see her life as two parts: the part that goes to school and has homework, and then the famous orator for female equality in education. So she is both very similar and different from regular teenagers.

Malala's modesty seemed to be very prominent. She never came off as someone who took the attention she's gained for granted. I find these traits to be highly respectable.

I thought that the documentary was full of inspiration and knowledge. It made me rethink a lot about the Middle East and how bad life truly is there. However, Malala's story really makes people see how when you have something bad happen to you, you can always step up for what you believe in. And to me, she is and inspiration.

I enjoyed this documentary even though I couldn't see the end of it in class this week. One interesting thing I learned was how Malala was targeted in the first place by talking with the BBC reporter for a blog. I was also suprised by the actions of the Taliban and how they would burn books and even other people's tvs. The documentary did have some bias since it was focused mainly on her and her life, but it was still enjoyable. The main message seemed to me to be about the power of a single person and the importance of speaking out against injustices even in the face of danger. Malala really wanted a postive future for the females in her country and around the world, which is why she advocates for education for them. She maintains her belief that women are equal to men and uses that for the focus of her speeches. By obtaining knowledge and getting an education, she believes that people can change their lives and decide what to do for themselves.

I find the documentary of Malala to be very inspiring because she puts others before herself. She stands up for what's right and speaks up for herself and her opinions. She puts aside her pain and hurt from the gunshot and moves forward in life with a positive attitude. Never once did she seem mad or upset in the documentary. She inspired me to be grateful and positive.

I believe the most inspiring aspect of this documentary for me was that Malala never gave up hope and never got mad. Even when she was shot in the head, she found a way to get better and continue to fight for her beliefs. The argument that girls deserve equal rights to an education is an obvious argument. I also believe that Malala is fighting for not only girls education, but equal rights for all women. Especially in the middle east, where women are treated very poorly, in some instances. I believe there is bias in this documentary, towards Malala and her hardships, but of course there would be since it is about her and written by a western filmmaker.

I entirely agree with your views. I thought that the documentary also had a very significant focus on the lives of children in the Middle East and I wish it would've gone deeper into the topic.

I really enjoyed the documentary He Named me Malala, because the views of Malala Yousafzai always seem pretty much unfiltered. The way she presents herself is very honest and inspiring. I got a better perspective of the Middle East by seeing the way that children especially are treated. The purpose clearly was to inspire others to make change for the greater good of everyone, something I find very noble. Malala is not violent or vengeful. She speaks using impactful and meaningful words to move others in the hopes of securing a better tomorrow. I find her forgiveness to be one of the most remarkable traits anybody could have.

I definitely agree with you about her forgiveness toward her attackers. It would be very difficult to not let your anger take over and turn her resentful towards her father or others. I also liked how her father said that a person wasn't to be blame, but an ideology.

I loved the documentary. A couple of years ago, I heard her story; however, I was not interested in it at all because it did not pertain to me. I am an American girl who gets an education for free. Malala was and is a huge inspiration to all women. She was shot and kept going after to achieve her goal of having an education. She had death threats against her and yet she still continued to express her opinion. Malala gave other girls someone to loo up to and admire, but she gave me the opportunity to never look at school as a "burden" but as a privileged.
