PD 1 ENGLISH 10 HONORS
Above is a Wordle with your focus words from last week. A wordle is "a visual depiction of the words contained in a piece of text". The above wordle makes the words used most often larger. This means that more people in our classes selected those words as focus words. (note, I forgot to collect focus words in several classes, so this does not display every single word selected. Sorry!)
Using the above list, select one word that you think is the most important word to drive our class this year. In the comments section, please answer the below questions about your word.
Your response should be at least 5 thoughtful sentences.

Of the many positive words, there is one that stands out from the crowd. “Creativity,” is a word of dire importance in driving the class forward. When one thinks of creativity, there is a plethora of ideas that are brought to mind; the feelings invoked by the word is one of positivity, originality, and invention. To associate creativity with English class is as basic as associating music with the orchestra or bad pronunciation with Spanish class. Creativity is the very foundation of English and language classes, and it is used in every aspect of the education provided.

Persistence has a very determined, uplifting connotation to it. When I think of persistence, I think of pressing forward, even when you seem to not have the energy or time. I associate this word with not only English class, but school in general because sometimes the work load can seem overwhelming, but you must keep going to succeed. Personally, this word means to not give up when times get troublesome. Once you push through, the payoff will be greater than the struggle. This year, my goal is to stay on top of things so I have something to look back on and be proud of in the future.

I think "hardworking" is the best word to drive our class this year. This word gives feeling of determination and success. When I hear this word, I think of professional athletes. They worked hard to get where they are, and we should work hard too, especially in school. Without an education, we will not be successful, and without working hard to earn that education, we will never reach our full potentials. My goal for this year is to work my hardest at anything I do. If you want to be your best, you have to put in the work.

Hardworking has a very large impact on every class. To succeed in school, you must be willing to work hard and do what it takes to accomplish your goals, while maintaining a good grade. Personally, I love this word, because without hard work we are not able to achieve anything, in or out of the classroom. It applies to English class, by always doing your work and not getting behind also while trying your best on all assignments.

The first word that I spotted when looking at the wordle was Determination. Di-spite the fact that it wasn't exactly the biggest, I think it means the most for Mrs. Gearhart's classroom. Determination is important in every young student cause it can help a student work better in the classroom, around others, and difficult assignments the teacher gives out. It's very important to notice words like this because it can have several different meanings, like bravery, courage, pride, and calm and collected. As of such, the word determination is a motivational word for young students to know. It can help with social, make you feel brave and cunning, and gives someone the power to do anything they put their mind to.

I think that Accomplishment is the most important word to describe how our class should be. I think that everyone should should try to be accomplished, because it can make you feel good about yourself. Just hearing the word accomplishment makes me feel good. Personally, it makes me think of success because it is directly linked to it, and we have to be successful in class to be able to do good things. I am connected to this word personally because accomplishment is something that I strive for in whatever I do. My goal for this year is to go to states for cross country, and then I will feel very accomplished.

Determination is the word I believe describes this class the most. I believe it means a push for a purpose, and I associate this with English because with determination you can accomplish anything. So those essays that are assigned with determination you can push and strive to complete them. The word determination to me means, to never give up and strive to greatness, the constant push for purpose determination applies and what i see in the word. To accomplish my goals for this year determination is a must without it I will fail.

Responsibility has a very positive connotation to me, because the more responsibility I have, the more flexibility I have with other things. For instance, if I have to do a lot of homework/chores around the house, I can do more things I want to afterwards. If I want to play basketball, I have to wait until I get all of those things done. Once they're all done, then I have time to play basketball without getting my parents/people upset because I didn't do the things I was responsible for. It makes you look like a better person, which can help in the workplace. It makes me think of school, because I always want to stick out to people as being a responsible and helpful young person. This word means that, as a person, I am someone a man/woman can look up to. I plan to keep being a responsible person and sticking to my word, as always.

The connotation of determination is confident. Whenever I hear the word it makes me feel happy, and sometimes more energetic. I associate this word with our English class because i know that this year there is more expectations and requirements that will test our knowledge for this class. So its important that we stay determined when completing assignments. I have a goal for this year to be more determined and try harder when it comes to assignments where i may not think i will be able to do them well enough, and still be able to get a 100%.

Of all of the numerous words listed, I believe that "accomplishment" is the most significant. Accomplishment means that one has reached their goal, that they have succeeded at something they desired. Whether the goal is big or small, anyone feels proud of their self afterwards. It can be associated with school and English class particularly because having goals within school are extremely important and allow us to achieve better scores or grades or improvement. Personally, this word makes me feel like I could do anything including accomplishing any goals I have this year.

I think the word determination describes our class the best. The connotation of determination is the act of deciding definitely and firmly. I think of my goals later on in life and how I have determination to complete them. In English class you have to decide to do your work and have determination to do it. It means to complete something in life to me, to have to want it. As we move up to 11th grade we have determination to graduate.

I believe that hardworking and persistence are the words to describe this class for the school year. This is because is order to be successful you have to work hard. But not only do you have to work hard but you have to work hard all the time. Which is why I choose persistence as another word. If you work hard all year and you are persistent with it and try your best you are guaranteed to pass the class.

I believe that determination is the word that everyone should use in their everyday lives. Without determination you wouldn't be able to get anything accomplished. The connotation is being committed to what your doing, and actually trying. The denotation is firmness of purpose; resoluteness. You shouldn't just use this word in school, you should use it for everything you do, that way your committed. Therefore, you should use determination and you should be determined when you do things.

I think and whole heartedly believe that Determination is what people need to have and understand. The connotation that determination has, is knowing and being able to understand and act on how hard you have to work to get were you need to go. When I think of determination I think of something being consistent and full on, I also think of something that doesn't stop know matter how far the goal is away. What this word means to me is how hard you should work, it also means that you should not stop, and if you do stop you need to have the courage to complete what you started. My goal for this year is to get things done and to stop thinking so much about the how, and start thinking about the when. Because "when" you do something it will create the how and that is "how" it will pan out.

If I had to describe this class with one word I would choose "Commitment." The word applies to our class because we have to stay dedicated to working hard and completing work. When I hear or read the word I think of someone who works hard with a specific goal in mind. My personal goal this year is to complete all of my class work, and study regularly to keep good grades. In order to accomplish it I need to stay committed and work hard throughout the school year.

Determination has a very powerful and strong feeling to it. This word applies to our class because we have to be determined to do our work and do it well. Without having that drive to do better, we will never make progress. To me, this word is very important, not for just class, but in life. If no one had determination, nothing would ever be accomplished.

The connotation is determination. It requires hard work, focus, and persistence to result in success. Commitment can be used in any and every little thing we do in our daily lives. This is important because , it helps us to look above our personal horizons and think outside of the box, which comes with creativity. In school this is of great importance. If you are committed in what you do in your classes it will not only affect you, but gradually, it can motivate your peers to work just as hard towards success as well. If you do well in school, you could have the opportunities of getting into a good college, and having a stable life.
